~TYRANIDS
A vast and alien intellect has risen from the icy void of intergalactic space, its many
eyes fixed on the glittering lights of the human galaxy. This single monstrous entity,
which is the Tyranid race, has found a rich new feeding ground.
Tyranids are able to evolve equipment and even whole new creatures out of living
tissue. What this means is that everything the Tyranids use, from weapons to entire
spacecraft, is a living creature in its own right - especially evolved for the task
at hand by the Tyranids. As Tyranids continue their never-ending search for living
materials to consume for their own needs, they have generated some nasty troops
and symbiote weapons.
~BIO-CONSTRUCTED ~DEATH
All Tyranids are directed by the hive mind, a group consciousness that directs the
billions of Tyranid creatures, and ties each individual into the collective intelligence.
Each different creature was designed for a different battlefield use, and the Tyranid
have developed tactics to gain the most out of each one.
The first wave of attacking troops is often constructed of the lesser creatures,
like the Termagants, Hormaguants, and Genestealers. The Termagants are commonly
called Hunter-Slayers by Imperial troops, and they can be armed with a variety of
living weapons, such as the fleshborer, spike rifles (for more range and armor
penetration), or stranglewebs (for really tough or well-armored foes).
